Harvey’s Restaurant, a New Restaurant in Ashland Oregon

June 25th, 2014 by Julie

harvey's place
Harvey’s Place a new restaurant in downtown Ashland.
As the Ella Fitzgerald song goes “ At last my love has come along…  Well, not love exactly, but we have waited a long time for the space that housed the former Chateaulin Restaurant to be occupied again.
After looking so sad for so long it’s great to have an exciting new restaurant in downtown Ashland. Harvey’s Place is open for business, and we think it’s a wonderful addition to all the other fabulous restaurants in town. Very good food, friendly service and great bar. Harvey’s Place will be open after the plays for a late night snack and drink, see you there!

Lithia Water’s Source in Ashland Oregon

June 6th, 2014 by Julie

lithia water fountain on the plaza                                                                              For those who have ever wondered, “Where does the lithium-laced water that bubbles up in the fountain in Ashland’s Plaza come from”?

It seems it has quite a journey from it’s source, surprisingly under the Ashland Gun Club in the country side east of Ashland. It is then pumped alongside Emigrant Lake, under Ashland Airport then follows East Main Street, up Hargadine Street, beneath Oregon Shakespeare Festivals brick courtyard and then finally behind Ashland City Hall and over to the Fountain in the  Plaza…  Quite a journey!!!

Ashland had hoped back in the early 1900′s to become a world class destination for it’s mineral waters ( a craze at the time ) that was not to be, but it did help put our small town On The Map!!!

Next time you’re in downtown Ashland go and sample the fizzy Sulfur tasting water, it actually tastes quite good.

When our small Granddaughters came to visit us, they kept going back for more, surprising all the adults in the Plaza who were watching them.. They loved it, maybe you will too!!!
