Dobra Tea House opens in Ashland

September 21st, 2014 by Julie

dobra tea room

Dobra Tea House opens in Ashland.

Dobra is a new Tea House in downtown Ashland. Located at 75 N. Main Street at the corner of Granite Street.

Dobra has a warm and relaxing atmosphere, owners Travis and Nichole Peterson met over a cup of tea while living in Portland. Travis says ” The Dobra Tea environment is designed to offer customers a place to relax and leave the world behind them.”  That is so true, the tea room has a bohemian feel and an eclectic mix of Moroccan and Middle Eastern decor. There are several “rooms.”  At the front of the tea room are cafe chairs and tables, further back into the space there are comfy sofa’s and small tables and on the other side of the room there is an area with low tables and cushions to lounge upon.

Dobra Tea Room is a natural fit for Ashland. Locals and visitors alike will enjoy a pot of refreshing tea and a convivial place to sit and relax.

On our visit my son Christopher ( who was visiting from San Francisco)  and I wondered into the tearoom, there we were greeted at the front door by a wonderful aroma of tea’s, we were given a huge menu of tea to choose from, our waitress guided us through skillfully and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We sat down in the comfy sofa section and given a small bell to ring when we were ready to order.

Christopher chose the Bubble Tea, an authentic tea that originated in Taiwan.  It is a cold tea made with one of five tea’s including Black tea, Oolong, Green, Tulsi and Rooibos. it also contains chewy tapioca pearls ( hence the Bubbles)  he really enjoyed the delicious blend of tea and milk,  he was surprised and happy to find it in Ashland. He is passionate about tea and had tasted Bubble Tea in some of the many places in the world he has traveled to.

I chose a lovely pot of a caffeine free blend called “Open-Hearted” which is a delightful blend of Hibiscus, Hawthorn, Rose Hips, Rose Petals, Orange Peels and Lemon Grass. It came in a clay tea pot with a small clay cup to sip from,  it was clear red and absolutely delicious.

Dobra Tea Room is a natural fit for Ashland. Locals and visitors alike will enjoy a pot of refreshing tea and a convivial place to sit and relax. We had a lovely afternoon chatting together and sipping our tea, for us tea is a way of life, what could be better for the mind ,body and soul!

Dobra  serves light lunches such as hummus, babaganoush, ,chevre and pita. They also have yummy gluten free cakes and cookies too. They will have live music and tea classes. Check the web site for information.

On your next visit to Ashland stop in at the Dobra Tea Room for a serene afternoon sipping a beautifully made infusion and relaxing in a quiet cushioned heaven.
