Spring is here at the Blue Moon

Spring is here at the Blue Moon,  Ashland is bathed in sunshine and warmth, the weather is glorious, the trees are in full bloom as are the spring flowers, this weather makes you want to go out into the garden, dig in the dirt and plant lots of flowers and shrubs.

In our garden at the Inn, the Helleborus and Daffodils are blooming and the Grape Hyacinth will soon be spreading a lovely carpet of blue flowers over the front yard. I do love this time of year and it’s promise of the long days of summer sun ahead.

In our back garden at the Inn we removed a fast growing giant  Sequoia,  it was planted as a sapling about 10 years ago..  and was growing about 6 feet per year the sequoia was outgrowing the space and encroaching onto the grass area. Our gardener cut the tree down last December ( we tried to give it to anyone who could use it as a Christmas tree but know one wanted it ) then the stump was removed.

Now in it’s place is a beautiful Bartlett Pear tree which hopefully will produce lots of pears later this year. We can look forward to some delicious pear cakes and breakfast dishes, I will put my thinking cap on ( this is an English saying ) and come up with some new recipes!!

Soon the Inn will be full of guests excited about the 2015 spectacular season of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival,

So far this season the plays that Jean-Pierre and I have seen have been truly superb and definitely not to be missed.
